Volunteer Program

Volunteers are essential to the high quality of service delivery CCASA offers. Volunteers make a contribution in helping to raise awareness about the issue of sexual abuse and sexual assault to communities in Calgary and surrounding area. CCASA volunteers make a real difference in the lives of those affected by the various forms of sexual abuse and sexual assault. In 2005, volunteers contributed 11,495 hours to support CCASA’s programs.

Volunteers are required to complete specialized training specific to their chosen area of interest, designed to prepare them to respond effectively to the clientele or the task they are doing. Health, justice, and social service professionals facilitate the training that ensures a thorough understanding of sexual abuse/sexual assault and related topics. Sessions involve classroom teachings, discussions, and role playing to reproduce situations that may be encountered on the support and information line.
