P.A.C.E.S.
The Police And Court Education and Support (P.A.C.E.S.) Program provides specialized information, education, and support to past or recent survivors of sexual assault and their families.
The idea of talking to the police about sexual assault can seem overwhelming and confusing. It is full of language and lengthy processes that you may not be familiar with. Whether you are thinking about reporting an assault or are already involved in reporting to the police, it can be an overwhelming experience in which support is available.
A Sexual Assault Worker who is trained in sexual assault trauma and is experienced in the justice system can help address your concerns and assist with a variety of issues including:
- Answering questions about your options in reporting the assault
- Going with you to the police and crown prosecutor
- Answering questions about police and court processes – what to expect
- Discussing your concerns about going to court
- Going with you to court and offering support
- Assistance writing a Victim Impact Statement
- Assistance filling out Victim Compensation forms
If you have questions about legal options, processes related to a recent or past sexual assault and this program, please call at 237-6905.
